patching GRID and RDBMS using FPP

For RDBMS, the Oracle documentation seems to indicate that you only need to put the unzipped patch file in the OPATCH dir for a workingcopy and then create a gold image - that the move database process will apply the patches as needed (or unpatch if you move back).

I wanted to confirm that and find out if GRID patching works the same way i.e, create workingcopy of grid, put the patch in the opatch directory, create new gold image, then use add workingcopy to a target system and move database on same target to upgrade
