Migration RHEL7 to RHEL8 with new 19c method
Hello,
We want to reinstall operating system from RHEL7 to RHEL8 for a RAC 19c 2 nodes .
The OS will be completely reinstalled , not upgraded.
We have a filesystem dedicated to Oracle products. It will therefore be recovered.
Is it possible to use the new 19c method indicated in the document id 1559762.1 that use the script : ./rootcrs.sh -updateosfiles for a complete OS reinstall ?
In 19.x there is a new supported method to upgrade the OS
Upgrading Operating System for an Oracle Grid Infrastructure Server
If so, what files should be backed up before the operation?
Probably these files :
/etc/oratab, /etc/oraInst.loc or /var/opt/oracle/oratab, /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc (depends on the platform) and Oracle inventory (oraInventory/*) defined in above oraInst.loc file. Be sure to also backup /etc/ocr.loc and /etc/oracle/olr.loc.
