Should Tablespace Status be READ WRITE for ONLINE Tablespace Encryption?

Database: 19c - 19.20.0.0

Hi,

I am aware that for Online Tablespace Encryption in 19c, DATABASE needs to be ONLINE READ WRITE mode. Is there such requirement exist for tablespaces as well?

In other words, can tablespaces be encrypted while in READ ONLY mode while the DATABASE is ONLINE READ WRITE? I would assume not but I couldn't find any tablespace requirement other than they need to be Online.
