Mass cancellation of purchase orders through SQL

Dear All,

I am using JDE 9.2.5.1. There is a requirement by client to have a solution for mass cancellation of purchase orders (stock and non-stock) which are in thousands to avoid extra working days required for the manual cancellation efforts

I have checked the available documents regarding this. There doesn't seem to be a front end option available in JDE to do so other than manual using P4310 or P4312

A report is mentioned R4317 to be used at financial closure only during year end for A,B,C inventory interface. However , this is an urgent requirement.

SQL fix is being considered. Are there any risks involved in performing the cancellation using SQL? In general , does Oracle not recommend SQL fixes to be done? If yes , what are the reasons to not consider SQL fix as an option?
