ExaCC discovery by OCI Database Management Service

We have a few ExaCC X9M-2 and want to enable the Database Management Service.

From the documentation it seems like it would be an external database type:

However, I am not sure if a management agent needs to be installed or if its already there, do I need to install a cloud agent, register the databases as external dbs (CDBs or PDBs?) and create the eternal database handle?
