SqlDeveloper hangs when the query is some issue

Whenever we run a query that contains some error (say you had two commas and did not have any field or misspelled field name or table), then SqlDeveloper hangs.

Sqlplus has no issues, responds almost immediately.

We are running on Oracle Enterprise edition 12.1.0.2.0 64 bit, Sun OS, SqlDeveloper 23.1.0.097 Build 1607.
