Scheduled Ship Date vs Promise Date

Curious how other folks utilize Promise Ship dates in their processes. We set the Scheduled Ship Date. That date drives all our planning activities in ASCP...this is a given. However a few years ago we started utilizing the Promise Date as a more current view of when something might ship. This information is updated weekly and posted to a company portal. We typically never change that original Scheduled Ship Date. All our paperwork and on-time metrics points to the Scheduled Ship Date. However when value streams fall behind we are challenged in our Supply/Demand Planning for ASCP still sees that
