Order Management Sales order consolidation

I am working with a client that receives multiple manually entered sales orders per day for the same ship to site. Each order is validated, priced and booked. A freight charge is assigned to each sales order.

Is there a way to consolidate multiple booked sales orders into a single sales order so that only one freight charge applies and discounts are calculated on the total quantity in each sales order line?

We have shipment consolidation in place so that the customer receives one delivery but they also get multiple freight charges on the invoice.

There are workarounds but they are very manual and require the order entry team to not book the first order of the day and to check if there are previously entered orders each time they receive a subsequent order, or to copy lines from the later sales orders to the first order number.
