[SOLVED] Understanding MPIO & iSCSI (Oracle Linux 7, Oracle RAC, 12.2.0.1)

Hello,

My question has to do more with the idea behind iSCSI than with any issue I'm currently experiencing. I've done some research trying to find out whether it was possible to add a new iSCSI LUN to the current ASM configuration without restarting my servers or even stopping the cluster.

The way I usually pre-configure LUNs with respect to ASM is as follows:

  1. I create a volume on my Dell storage and map it to the cluster so that both servers can see it.
  2. I add an entry in /etc/multipath.conf for this particular volume (wwid, alias).
  3. I add an entry in /etc/udev/
