[DOC ID 2149196.1]: Trying to boot guest vm on ODA in Single User Mode Fails

edited Dec 4, 2023 10:14AM in Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered

I am following DOC ID 2149196.1 to modify the vm,cfg file to configure the guest VM to boot in single-user mode. After shutting down the guest VM and modifying the vm.cfg and restarting, I get the following error about the repo. But, of course, the repo is available on the node.

Of course, removing the "extra = 'S'" from the vm.cfg - allowing the guest VM to boot back in multiuser mode works and the VM restarts. But, I need to reset the root password with the VM started in single-user mode.

The Oracle Support team keeps moving my ticket to the Linux support team who then tells me to modify the grub.conf on boot. So, they are having a little bit of a problem understanding that this is a guest VM on the ODA - as informed in my ticket - or that I can not get to the single user configuration.

Howdy, Stranger!
