Absence Requests in MSS Team Calendar

Hello,
We are trying to add the absence requests to the MSS Team Calendar. In the technical documentation Oracle provides, the document does not explain how the page/component will call either calendar function CalendarEventsSummary or CalendarDayEventsDetail. When adding the Absence Requests, we saw in the PeopleCode that it is hardcoded to use one of these calendar functions. However, when we followed the instructions in the technical doc, this PeopleCode isn't being fired from anywhere else - therefore not generating the absence requests.
Have others run into this same issue and/or are there any suggestions on how to get the absence requests to populate in the MSS Team Calendar?
