Does patching require updating databases as well?

We are currently on 22.12.0 and there is a patch for 22.12.8 to resolve an issue we are experiencing. I know going from 22.12 to 23.12 (when it's released) will require database upgrades, but will 22.12.0 to 22.12.8 require DBs to be upgrade? Where can I find the official details? Thank you!
