Can you change the Arrearage check box (flag) on an existing deduction element

Product: Oracle EBS Payroll 12.2.1

We have a deduction element that was setup to take arrearage and now we have a requirement to no longer take arrearage. Is it possible to stop arrearage processing?

The arrearage check box (flag) on the Element Deduction form for this element is checked and not updatable. We tried end dating element links for the element to see if the arrearage flag would be updatable, but that did not work.

Is there another method to stop an element from processing arrearage?
