Move Oracle database from Redhat linux 7 to Redhat Linux 8 server

We have Oracle 19c databases (enterprise edition) running on Redhat linyx 7 servers. Since Redhat linux 7 will be end of life soon, we're upgrading the servers to Redhat linux 8. The databases will need to be moved over to the new servers. I read some documents and understand that Oracle recommends to do fresh installation. We didn't do fresh installation previously when we upgraded server from Linux 6 to Linux 7 and haven't encountered any issue. I'd like to know if the steps we performed are supported.

We have an alias for each database server. Here're the steps:

  1. unmount the file systems hosting oracle home, inventory, and database files from old server

Howdy, Stranger!
