Upgrade path to 11.2.15 from 11.2.7 without Essbase update or with Essbase update?

As Oracle has released 11.2.15 recently, We need to understand if we can apply 11.2.15 or atleast 11.2.12 release on our existing 11.2.7 EPM version w/o upgrading Essbase or not ?

and If we need to upgrade Essbase then what is the correct approach and what are advantages/disadvantages of the same.
