If the project is trending to finish early, why is the Total Float 0?

I noticed this change a few months ago, now when a project is trending early, ahead of the constrained completion date(Finish On Or Before), and ahead of the summary & settings: Project Must Finish By Date, the Total Float equals Zero instead of 5d. Why is this occurring and how can I fix it?
