Default Audit Recorder log file does not roll every X (30) minutes as configured

We have another product that is constantly monitoring this file for certain strings. Occasionally the file will not roll over every 30 minutes as configured and from then on it will not roll and just gets bigger and bigger. We suspect this is because of contention with the monitoring product. File is on a NAS, maybe file locking. Any other potential solutions besides restarting the server jvm once a day (not mgmt's preferred solution)?
