We have Oracle 19.8 EE RAC on Exadata X9M-2 machine BM as a Primary database.

We have a physical standby database installed on ODA X7-2 HA RAC.

I am in the process of patching the ODA machine to 19.21. The minimum version of the supported database is 19.17. We are using Active Dataguard. So the ODA database is open for reporting. Is it possible to upgrade it? and keep the primary database at 19.8? What about if we decide to switch over? Also the datapatch won't be applied cause the ADG database is open for ready only. Any clear idea about this setup ?
