Do I need to install old jdk 1.31 to install developer suite?

I am trying to install Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 (10.1.2.0.2) on a new laptop via patch 10396165. I don't get very far into installation and it is asking for me to point to a jdk dir and that it should be 1.3.1. So, do I need to install this old jdk for the installation, then uninstall it when it is done?
