Is it possible to get the X that was at the end of a field back after upgrade to 12.2.9

Oracle Purchasing - BWC

12.2.9

After upgrading from 12.1.3 to 12.2.9 the X to clear the contents of a field is no longer available on the fields when creating a purchase order. We must now manually delete any data in order to change the contents of a field. How can we get that simple function back? I can't find any document on Support that discusses this.
