Create a progressive number: how to do?

Hi,

our customer has the following requirements: he needs to create a prossive number while creating a record.

This progressive number MUST NOT BE the record number but another code.

The code must be composed by 3 information:

• year number (23, 24, 25 etc..)
• Another value number from 1 to 9 that i can autopopoluate from another information)
• the progressive number.

Result: (24)(1)(0001), (24)(3)(0002), (24)(7)(0003) and so on..then we change year (25)(6)(0001) etc etc etc

I supposed I must create 3 different fields to concatenate but how shall I create the progression? A query based field?
