Budgetary control on PO

Hi All

We are newly implementing the Project costing module and we are looking to have non-integrated Budgetary control on Purchase Orders. Please note purchasing has been running in production for many years.

Is there any way to get the funds checked/budgetary control on Project-related Purchase orders.

I saw many Oracle notes that it is not suggestible to enable encumbrance on PO when it is already up and running.
