How to create a daily activity report without resources?

For activities without resources, is it possible to use the report wizard to create a report displaying a date range of columns with each cell displaying if there is work scheduled for the rows of activities? For example, there would be a column for each date over the next 7 days. Then each row would be an activity and every cell displays if anything is scheduled on that date.

We are able to do this when selecting 'Activity Resource and Role Assignments', and choosing a timescale with a daily date interval under date options. This uses the resources to display planned hours for each date. However, when choosing 'activities' and checking 'time distributed data' as the subject area, the date range does not show as columns in the report.
