Converting UPC barcode to item number in the Receipts form

We are on version 12.2.11, and we have WMS enabled. We do some mobile/msca receiving, but we also do some traditional desktop receiving. During the mobile receipt, WMS will convert a UPC barcode scan to our item number (based on the Item Master setup for UPC cross-reference). However, this does not seem to work during a desktop receipt. Is there a way to enable the UPC cross-reference for scanning in the desktop Receipts form?
