EAM ECC Open Work Orders Dashboard change default refinement

The EAM ECC Open Work Orders Dashboard has a built in default refinement for Work Order Schedule Start Horizon: Last 21 to Next 21 Days. I can save a search and choose "Make Default" when it saves, but it will not open as my default search when I navigate away from the Dashboard and go back to it, log out and log back in, etc. Has anyone tried to do this and was successful or is this a built in "feature" that you cannot change and we must remove the refinement every time and manually select the saved search
