scsi unmaps not being sent to SSD SAN storage after fstrim issued - how do we fix it?

We have Pure Storage and Alletra SSD based SANS and discovered scsi unmaps are not being sent to the SANS after fstrim is issued (fstrim reports bytes are released), so the SANS are reporting in use statstics much higher (more than a factor of 2)
