Expense Reports Self Approval AWE

I have AWE steps setup to allow for Self-Approval (see below), however, when testing as a requestor that is also an approver, I get an error on their Approval step. (We have 5 steps each request much go through, the first 4 will go to individuals (like Department mgr), and the last step being a pooled worklist (Expense Dept))
My question: Is it possible for Expense Reports to be Self-approved using AWE?
