Default item categories for items

R12.2.11

While defining an item, is it mandatory to assign any item categories? For example, Costing, Inventory, Purchasing categories - are these seeded categories mandatory for items from Costing, Inventory and Procurement modules perspective?

There is a field for Costing category on the item cost screen. Similarly, Inventory and Purchasing categories are mandatorily needed on any other screen?
