E1 31 Using serial numbered items and location control in manufacturing

Hi everyone, I just want to ask if, is there any known restriction or is it possible to work with serial numbers and item branch location?

This question arises because when looking for Oracle documentation regarding the use of serial numbers in manufacturing I found doc Id 625994.1 which menctions that ir order to work with serial numbers, the Branch plant set up must be with the Location control parameter unchecked.

Our customer wishes to work with both Location and serial number control for finished goods manufactured items.
