Changing Constant for SP Based on Date

Hi, using JDE version 9.2. I know that changing a constant is not to be taken lightly, but has anyone out there actually changed their constant for Sales Price Based On Date? I would assume it affects new orders only, and seems simple. I also know that there is a SPDATE preference but really our requirement is to change from Requested Date to Order Date overall, so changing the constant would be the simplest. It just worries me a bit…:)
