Can we change from Standard costing to Actual costing in discrete manufacturing?

We are on EBS versionR12.1.3 and are currently using discrete manufacturing. In near future organization will be moving from manufacturing to trading and wants to use actual costing method . Kindly advise if it is possible. I didn't find any metalink for this purpose.

all the links were for standard to average costing. Is average costing and actual costing same?
