DBlink from oracle to postgresql DB

Hi Team,

We are having 19.23 oracle version database. We have a requirement to create dblink from oracle to postgresql Database.

In some blogs, it says installing gateway is not required,since hetrogenous services is incorporated in oracle home itself. I tried this without installing gateway for ODBC. Created DBlink and works fine. Followed dbsguru.com/steps-to-create-a-database-link-from-oracle-to-postgresql/amp/

Need your expertise.

  1. Can you please let us know if installing gateway for ODBC is mandatory to create DBlink from oracle to postgresql?
  2. Will there be any issues if we dont install gateway and create the DBlink and use it.
