Exadata Extended (XT) Storage Servers - for X7-2 Exadata

Hello

We have Exadata X7-2 and one of the project requirements entail we look for expanding the storage tier cost effectively for our archived data / blobs.. We looked into XT storage servers but are not sure if the XT servers are supported with X7-2 or only work with like X8 or X9/X10

Can someone share their experience if they are using XT with X7-2 or older Exadata or if someone can point us out to a certification matrix / MOS that talks about XT being supported for X7-2 or older?
