Retire Convention default value not as expected

Retirement Convention on the Retire Asset page is not displayed as defined in Asset Profile Retire Convention. We are expecting the Profile ID conventions to define default values. Is this an incorrect expectation? If so, where are the controls for Retirement Convention?

I checked out Demo environment and this is what I found; perhaps there is a better example I should use?
