How to resolve the error we are receiving on assets in our Tax book when trying to retire them?

We are receiving the following error when trying to retire a number of assets in one of our TAX books:

Full retirement cannot be overlapped to prior transactions.Please change the retirement date.

User-Defined Exception

Error: function FA_RETIREMENT_PUB.do_validation returned failure

Error: function FA_RETIREMENT_PUB.do_retirement returned failure

Mass Copy failed on this asset and transaction. Please review log file for more information.

Error: function fa_masscp_pkg.mcp_retirement returned failure

Error: function fa_masscp_pkg.do_mass_copy returned failure
