My department is discussing with System departments the way to install patchs to Oracle 19c.

We are asking for root user to do it, but they say we could use oracle and grid users with special permissions to run the patch. They think providing us the execution role as root user it is enough.

I need a technical info which could give them about why it is neccesary to execute the Opatch with root user (specially internall works which is necessary to be root and not Oracle/grid user with root privileges)
