End Dating an Element Link

Need to know how you can End Date an Element Link that is for a Recurring Element. We have several Recurring Elements with multiple Links to Assignment Category/Employment Category due to Costing requirements. Now that the Costing requirement is no longer there, the links need to be End Dated, and a single element link created. We are trying to stop the End Dating of the entry when an employee moves from one Assignment Cat to another.
