Can we cancel a credit memo

Hi,

First, I would like to know whether we can cancel a credit memo like we cancel a standard invoice. If we cannot, how to clear them? If we need to clear old credit memo like in the period of Mar 2019, shall we reopen the period and create a debit memo to offset them?
