Dear Oracle Support,

I would like to confirm if a direct upgrade is possible from Oracle Database 12c (Multitenant architecture) in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to Oracle Database 23ai (Multitenant) in OCI.

Specifically, I need clarification on the following:

  1. Is a direct upgrade from Oracle 12c (CDB/PDB) to 23ai supported in OCI?
  2. If a direct upgrade is not supported, what is the recommended upgrade path for Oracle Database 12c Multitenant in OCI?
  3. Are there any OCI-specific tools, methods, or automated processes recommended for this upgrade?
  4. Could you provide any MOS documents, Oracle Upgrade Guides, or best practices related to this scenario?
