Is it possible to bypass the Uppercase requirement in Mobile Scanners?

Current Version is R12.2.9 - and using the "Oracle Mobile SCM for EBS" application - in the different fields, the characters always need to be in Uppercase - otherwise it doesn't give any results, would it be possible - thru any configurations

1. either to bypass this requirement of Uppercase, like in Oracle Forms - which accepts lowercase as well.
2. always convert the values into uppercase before exiting the field

I do understand that the scanner is meant for scanning, however, sometime there are few areas/scenarios where the users are forced to manually type in - due to which looking for some help here please.
