ESBC on AWS EC2

Has anyone used the following instructions to create an ESBC AMI and then launch and EC2 instance from it?

I used nnSCZ930p4-img-vm_kvm.tgz to create the AMI. I'm at the step where I need to ssh to the instance but none of the documented logins work. AWS says to use root@<ipaddress> with the key-pair file. The Oracle docs say to either use 'user' or 'admin' as the username. I've tried all three. None work because the key-pair is not working. I get this error:
