Page search record field shows colons/dots when it autopopulates

We just updated to PI50 and had a user notice an interesting 'feature' on a custom page search field - probably due to an autocomplete feature?

As you can see below, when we start typing in the Emplid ID field, and autopopulate occurs, in the Name column it displays these "colons" or dots between the first/last name. So, for example, my name

I was wondering what controls that, can you make it not show up (the actual record field is a comma between last, first), or is it just something you tell users to get used to. If you do NOT type in this box, but use the magnifying glass instead, the pop-up search looks normal.
