How to generate a negative Benefit Deduction when Special Accumulator becomes negative?

We have a Benefit Deduction which is a Percentage of a Special Accumulator. When the Special Accumulator becomes negative, we expect a negative deduction. This is currently not happening. How can Payroll generate a negative Benefit Deduction when the Special Accumulator becomes negative?
