Cannot Manage Exceptions

I'm getting highly frustrated with the system and the lack of documentation of how to make exceptions go away from view. So our system is setup to notify us when someone is Tardy (Late IN Punch) at a Low Severity. We have 13k Unresolved exceptions, and the documentation says to fix their punch time to resolve it. Um, change their IN punch so that they are no longer Tardy to change it to Resolved? That makes no sense.

I experimented with this by changing a time to be on time, but no where on the page is there any "Clean up Exception" button. And even if I save it, it remains on the list of exceptions to be fixed. Not that I wanted to change the time in the first place.
