EDI 3pl Integration

We have a 3pl that ships sales orders to our customers. When they ship the sales order they send us an inbound EDI 856 ASN. We need that ASN to update the sales order in JDE and then trigger an outbound ASN to our customer. What is best practices for processing the inbound ASN (with SSCC18 pallet info), updating the sales order, and then sending the outbound ASN with the SSCC18 information from the inbound ASN? Any and all suggestion's are appreciated.

Customer Purchase Order > JDE Sales Order > 3pl Pick > 3pl shipment (ASN) to JDE > JDE Sales Order updated with shipping information > JDE ASN to customer
