Business Model for contract manufacturing

Hello JDE Community,

We are an FDA regulated contract manufacturing organization. We also manufacture some of our products.

I am wondering if there is a best business practice or model for such an organization. We are currently utilizing ETO feature but due to high number of contracts (we call it projects) it is becoming a challenge to manage these contracts. I have seen large number of work orders which I suppose planners have to manage.

I have also 'heard' the MRP in an ETO setup does not work well.

Any input is highly appreciated.
