How can we avoid skipped document series in JDE?

Hi guys, would like to seek for your help here? We are using next numbering series in JDE however, there are times that the number series was about to be used sample upon journal entry and later on did not proceed. Thus, the series will be skipped and will not be used since the next number value has changed. Any idea how to avoid this scenario in all document types since audit might ask queries about the skipped series.
