Doc ID 1491232.1 why same serial no and product family not allowed

Hi

Is there a set up or constant to allow the same serial no and product family in equipment master/ asset master.

sometimes we do rework equipment and assign a different item number but they are part of the same family. Is it possible at all to have same serial no, different part no but product family?

Is this a constraint on the table or why is this not possible? the document said not possible but no specific reason
