sendmail - cannot send email to any other domain other than its own

edited Jun 4, 2025 9:35PM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 7 commentsAnswered

I have a Solaris 11 zone (abc.com) running smtp. The OS relay all the emails to the domain smtp sever (linux).

Somehow the server only sends the abc.com email to the smtp relay, but keeping the rest (like yahoo.com and gmail.com) on the mail queue.

if I send an email to nobody@abc.com, it will send this email to the smtp server, but if I do nobody@yahoo.com, it will stay in the local mail queue forever.

The emails are locked according to sendmail -v -q:

root@:/var/log# mailq
/var/spool/mqueue (1 request)
-----Q-ID----- --Size-- -----Q-Time----- ------------Sender/Recipient-----------

Howdy, Stranger!
