OOTB Integration EPM _ PPM Custom Dimension Limitations

We are working to leverage the out-of-the-box (OOTB) integration between EPM and PPM. However, we have encountered a limitation with the Projects Module, which allows for only one custom dimension. In our attempts to repurpose other dimensions to align with our clients' requirements, we have unfortunately been unsuccessful.

Is the inability to repurpose or utilize custom dimensions a result of restrictions inherent in the OOTB solution?
